Curriculum

Performing Arts education today demands a wider scope of focus because of the contemporary performing arts' cross-disciplinary aspect. The curriculum of Istanbul Bilgi University's Management of Performing Arts - Performing Arts Track (BA) under the faculty of Communication is designed to respond to this need by integrating movement, dance, theatre, performance art and new media into the stuudies by a special focus on the performative aspect of the body. The aim of the programme is not to train dancers or actors in the traditional sense, but rather expressive bodies in a trans-disciplinary way. The track is founded in 2007 in collaboration with the Duncan Conservatory in Prague. The curriculum is concentrated on 4 main areas: - Artistic practice & creativity - Performance theory, analysis & critical writing - Techniques & technologies - Curation & organization Apart from the curriculum, ten intensive workshops (BOSA: Body Based Art Workshops) are organized in a year, for the students to work with diverse professionals on a variety of subjects.
